So the results are in!
In no particular order here are the results (where photos were provided). There were also 10 written confirmations but I am afraid photographic evidence is a requirement.
Thanks everyone who contributed and well done to all those who made this years Summer Hall of Farm!
I think we can say with confidence:
No you absolutely can not grow watermelons in Haslemere - but you can a few miles either side.
*Should this statement prove controversial - I will accept new photographic evidence (that I will publish here) if sent to olli@otgardenrescue.co.uk by 18:00 Sunday 13th September - to be fair to the current Hall of Farmers these will be added with a caveat of late admission.
Danny from Greek Breads - This is our watermelon. We didn’t even plant it !!! It just appeared after we had our patio extended. Based in Kirdford. (How suspiciously lucky! OT)
Maricris Kish Pica - Mine this Summer in MIdhurst - https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1Hi74v4iwK/ (Great video, impressive haul! OT)
Marianne Devereux - This (top photo) was two weeks ago, we are our first today (23 08 26). (Looks delicious! - OT)
Karen Hill -My watermelon plant didn’t do very well but this melon has done well and I’m in Chichester - (still counts! OT)
Angie Wallace Yes I've been growing them. I have 7 in my garden (Hindhead) (Has somebody punched it? - OT)
Tamsyn Emma Davis Managed cucumelons not watermelons. However only one seed out of 8 planted survived. P.S, Don't recommend not safe to eat - Hindhead. (I guess this counts if only for the absurdity of it - OT)
