Lawn Repair 10 Days On - Update

Published on 16 September 2026 at 16:16

So this is not the most interesting post I have ever done. However it does show progress that might be expected in optimal conditions - the last week or so has been a couple of days of rain with sunny days and warm nights in between.

The bottom photograph shows the lawn after ultra short mowing, scarifying, over-seeding and top dressing on Monday 7th September, the next photo up shows the lawn after 13 hours of rain on Tuesday 8th September and the top one today, Wednesday 16th September.

The compost has all been absorbed into the ground and the grass seed has germinated all over. We used three types of seed and the shade-tolerant seed (which you can't really see, as it's at the bottom around the apple tree, is way ahead with almost complete coverage already).

I'd expect full coverage towards the end of next week  - when I will add another fascinating photo to this post!

If, for any reason, significant patches remain, it will still be early in the season - with potentially another two and a half months of growing season remaining - to address it.
